Patient Consult Visit Costs
The Initial Consult
We schedule new patient appointments at our Salt Lake Valley (Sandy), Northern Utah (Clearfield), and Utah Valley fertility clinics (Pleasant Grove) Monday-Friday. Limited appointments are available in Sandy on Saturday. If the patient’s schedule is flexible, one of our infertility specialists is usually available for initial consultation within one week of an appointment request.
If there are no initial appointments with any of our infertility specialists within the next week, patients are eligible to receive a coupon for credit equivalent to the pre-paid cash value of the consult. This coupon can be applied to the cost of the initial consult if patients are self-pay or applied to services not covered by insurance.
During the initial consult, we try to provide patients with as much information as possible regarding the diagnostic fertility tests that are indicated, specific treatment options, and the fertility prognosis. Many insurance companies pay for the initial consult (co-pay may be required). The full fee for service price for the initial consult varies ($213 - $373) based on several variables including, the amount of time spent with the patient, and whether the patient has had previous infertility treatment. Diagnostic testing is not included in the cost of the consultation.
Once the appointment is scheduled, our scheduling department assigns patients a username and password for access to the patient portal. We use an electronic medical record from PracticeHwy.com, called eIVF. Completing the eIVF questionnaire and obtaining all pertinent medical records allows our specialists to have access to all records before the initial consult. This enables us to provide the best advice possible during the first visit.
Patients without insurance coverage should inquire about our pre-paid cash discount for the initial visit with one of our fertility specialists. We provide a significant discount for self pay new patient consultations if paid at the time of service. Please call for details. Income based discounts for services can also be applied for.
Initial consults are also available by phone. The consult must be paid by credit card when scheduled. Insurance does not pay for phone consults but this can be very cost effective for those who live several hours away. A summary dictation or typed progress notes will be sent to the referring physician if requested.
Follow-Up Appointments and Consultations
If applicable, please ensure that all recommended tests have been completed and allow 1-2 weeks for the reports to be reviewed by your physician before scheduling the follow-up appointment. This enables us to provide the best advice possible. We are usually available for follow-up consultation appointments within 1 week of patients’ requests.
At the follow-up visit, we provide as much information as possible regarding diagnostic test results, specific treatment recommendations, and when appropriate, the fertility prognosis. Many insurance companies will pay for the follow-up consults and appointments, however, a co-pay may be required. The fee for follow-up office appointments varies from ($97-$213) depending on several variables including the complexity of the discussion, the amount of time spent with the patient and the time spent reviewing records.
Follow-up visits are also available by phone and vary ($50-$215). Payment by credit card of an average estimated fee of $98 is required at the time of scheduling. There is usually no charge to answer a simple question requiring only a few minutes. Usually our trained infertility nurses can answer this type of question. Insurance does not pay for phone consults.
We respect and value patients’ time and strive to see them in a timely manner. We try to notify patients of any delays in the schedule.
