Fertility Medication Costs and Sources

One of the greatest expenses of fertility treatment involves fertility drugs. Medications can cost up to $5,000 or more for each conventional IVF cycle (average $2,500 - $3,500).

Our nurses have extensive experience in helping patients obtain the lowest price possible for legitimate, legal medications and can offer advice regarding the various gonadotropin (FSH) options available.

There are several pharmacies that specialize in national delivery of fertility medications. Freedom Drug,Walgreens. Most pharmacies will help patients determine their insurance benefits for medications that are used during fertility treatment cycles.

Freedom Drug usually provides the best prices on EMD Serono™ infertility products. They also have excellent teaching materials for the administration of most fertility medications. See their drug administration video or download the i Phone/i Pad app. Freedom Fertility Mobile Injection training materials are also available through our Web site using the Patient Portal (please call for details regarding access if needed).

Some patients obtain their medications from overseas pharmacies from Canada, Mexico, England and other locations. The legality of this process is debatable and we do not recommend sources from out of this country.

Compassionate Care Program Offers Up to 75% Savings On Fertility Medication

Several years ago EMD Serono started the Compassionate Care Program. This program helps uninsured, yet income-eligible, patients afford the cost of medication by providing a significant 25%-75% savings on medications.

The discount covers many fertility medications including Gonal-F, Ovidrel, and Cetrotide. Patients are contacted with their approval status several days after submitting the application and receive a discount card in the mail within 3-5 days. Several mail order fertility pharmacies like Freedom Fertility Pharmacy, accept the Compassionate Care discount card.
