The Reproductive Care Center (RCC) reproductive medicine laboratory is equipped with the latest "state of the ART" equipment to perform many of the fertility tests and procedures associated with the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. The embryology and andrology laboratories have had the highest possible accreditation in the United States, by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation Program and is inspected every 2 years. Our Laboratory Accreditation Program number is 7127701. Since 2001, the laboratory has maintained a Certificate of Compliance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA). Our CLIA number is 46D0911244.
Tests and Procedures Offered by Our Reproductive Medicine Laboratory and Staff Semen Analysis with Kruger Strict Morphology
Male infertility is present in up to half of infertile couples and the semen analysis is one of the most important fertility tests. Our staff is trained to notice the subtle sperm abnormalities that may be missed by someone less familiar with andrology. We expertly examine sperm using Kruger Strict Morphology Criteria and other tests as necessary. Evaluations include the following: volume, concentration, motility, total motile sperm, progression, morphology, and round cell estimate with white blood count if indicated.
We are pleased to offer sperm preparation and insemination (IUI) for patients of our referring physicians.
RCC offers discrete accommodations for sample collection in private rooms at our clinic or patients living within 30 minutes of our clinic may make arrangements to collect in the privacy of their home and bring the sample to the clinic for preparation. Special condoms are available for purchase if needed.
RCC’s preparation of semen samples for IUI includes a semen evaluation performed by our trained andrologists. This provides valuable information regarding the count and motility parameters of the sample before and after preparation for IUI. Careful handling and preparation of the sample helps us ensure the highest quality sample for insemination in your office or ours.
Advanced testing (Kruger Strict Morphology) to help predict the egg fertilization capability of the sperm is available in conjunction with IUI preparation. This is a convenient and cost effective way for patients to combine valuable diagnostic testing with their treatment cycle. Simply advise your patients to request a Kruger Strict Morphology test along with their IUI preparation. We will fax and mail a copy of the results to the referring physician. RCC physicians are available for consultation regarding Kruger Strict Morphology test results and associated treatment options.
Once prepared, samples may be transported by the patient back to the referring physician’s office for insemination or RCC is happy to provide insemination for your patients at our facility. Inseminations at RCC are performed by our nurses and physicians and ultrasound guidance is available for difficult insertions.
Additional Ovulation Monitoring by Ultrasound and or Blood Work is Available Through RCC
RCC offers insemination service 7 days a week. Optimal timing for IUI procedures is usually the day following a positive ovulation predictor kit test or 36 – 40 hours after HCG administration. Please request that your patients contact our scheduling desk at 801-878-8888 by 12:00 noon on the day of their positive ovulation kit to schedule their sample collection and IUI for Monday through Sunday service. Patients whose kits are positive on Sunday will need IUI on Monday and may call between 8-9am on Monday for same day service.
