The Clomid challenge test (CCCT) provides a detailed evaluation of ovarian reserve or the supply of eggs remaining in the ovaries. Blood is drawn on day 3 of the cycle for FSH. The patient takes Clomid on cycle days 5-9 then the FSH is tested again on cycle day 10.
Elevated FSH levels on one or both the blood tests indicates a less favorable prognosis and the likelihood that increased amounts of medication will be required for egg growth if the patient proceeds to treatment.
Some IVF financial packages at RCC require Clomid Challenge testing to qualify.
Patients with abnormal Clomid Challenge Test results may be encouraged to take advantage of our Donor Egg or Embryo programs which could provide much higher success rates in selected patients.
